What Is Shillong Teer?
Shillong Teer is a legal lottery game based on traditional archery, conducted by the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association in Shillong, Meghalaya. Unlike regular lotteries where numbers are drawn randomly, Teer results depend on the number of arrows shot and the count of arrows hitting the target.
The word “Teer” itself means arrow in Hindi and many local languages. The game is deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of the Khasi community and has been officially regulated under the Meghalaya Amusements and Betting Tax Act.
How Does Shillong Teer Work?
The game is simple to understand once you know the basics:
- Archers shoot arrows at a circular target (called Teer target) in two rounds.
- Round 1 (First Round / FR): Archers shoot a fixed number of arrows.
- Round 2 (Second Round / SR): A different set of arrows is shot.
- The last two digits of the total number of arrows that hit the target become the result number.
Example: If 756 arrows hit the target in the first round, the FR result is 56. If 843 arrows hit in the second round, the SR result is 43. This is why the result is always a two-digit number between 00 and 99.
